Donsol Things to Do: 30 reviews and 61 photos

A lot has been written about whale shark watching. The tips that the other people shared are still the same (some tips were written back in 2006). I'll also share a few advices.

There are really no guarantees when you can see them but the best bets are during February to May. Still, during this season, some groups don't encounter whale sharks at all. I suggest that you practice good karma and pray. :)

Next, if the waters are rough (like when we went there), the boat passengers (7 of us) were divided into two groups. I was a little unlucky since the first swim, the whale shark was only there for 1-2 seconds before going underwater The second group had a longer encounter. If you are confident that you're a good swimmer, you can ask your B.I.O. (Butanding Interaction Officer) to allow you to swim on all encounters.

And last, don't touch the whale sharks. :)
