"Back Country Hiking" Arches National Park Off The Beaten Path Tip by wilocrek

Some of the best hiking in Arch's is off the beaten path, while the park rangers frown on this type of hiking its not forbidden, in the Arch's brochure it states its against park etiquette but not against the rules. There are many different places to park your car along the road and from there you can set out on your own. This is a great way to explore Arch's in solitude and to see things that most tourists do not. Definitely bring a compass as it can be easy to get lost without one, but I have found as long as I have a compass I have always been able to find my way back to the road. For you hard core hikers this is the way to explore Arch's away from the crowds and see a different side of the park.
