China town in San Francisco is much different than any other ethnic neighborhood I had previously visited. Despite the notoriety of this place I never did feel that I was surrounded by other tourists such as myself. Many Chinese restaurants, super markets and gift shops populate the area and there were more than enough Chinese immigrants around to make me have to remind myself i was still in the States. China town is a terrific place to walk through and grab lunch at an authentic and inexpensive restaurant, buy a novelty Buddha statue, or just soak in some makeshift Chinese culture.
