"Driving around the mountain area and cosy villages" Troodos Things to Do Tip by WanderingFinn

Troodos is the biggest mountain area of Cyprus, and it is located in the center of the island. Troodos' highest peak is Mount Olympus; it is 1,952 meters high. Up there you'll find snow even late in spring, perhaps even at summertime in some places.
A nice change to your beach or city holiday is to take a rental car and drive up to the mountains; cool down in the fresh mountain air. You can just wonder the beautiful nature around you or visit some of the churches or monasteries located in the area. Some of them are even listed in the UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Please note that the roads are very narrow in some places and caution is needed. I personally wouldn't drive there after daylight time as there often are no fences by the narrow mountain roads. Also in some places parts of the road might be totally missing or at least in bad condition.
Address: Troodos mountain area
Directions: Easy to find; Troodos is visibly marked on every map. It is located in the middle of the island of Cyprus and is the highest area of the whole island.
