"Hiking the valley floor" Ihlara Things to Do Tip by acemj

Ihlara Things to Do: 11 reviews and 23 photos

It's possible to walk the entire length of the Ihlara Valley between the villages of Ihlara and Selime in anywhere from about 6 to 8 hours, but I was with a group that did the more typical short stretch between the entry point at Ihlara Vadisi Turistik Tesisleri and the small village of Belisirma. There is a parking lot above the canyon at Ihlara Vadisi Turistik Tesisleri and a last opportunity to buy a bottle of water before you descend a long stairway down to the valley floor. Take a few moments to enjoy the views before you enter. If you have a map of the valley, the parking lot is right above the Agacalti Church (Agacalti Kilise) near the bridge.

The hike was great when we were there because the weather was nice - a clear day and perfect temperatures, but I would imagine that it would be very hot here in the summertime. Along the way, there are a number of churches with interesting frescoes to be explored as well as a beautiful river to follow. The walk is relatively flat and easy.
