Climbing the Mount Sinai is a challenging religious tour and used to be the part of Christian Holy land tour package from other countries, as it is believed to be the place where Moses received the 10 commandments. The most popular activities will be the sunrise at the top of Mount Sinai and St. Catherine Monastery. We went to Sinai from Dahab, around 2 hours trip by car. We reached the top after 2-3 hours exhausting hiking. Gear yourself up with the extreme cold on the way to the top and the extreme heat on the way down the following morning. Many Bedouin cafes on the mountain with 5-10LE of tea or coffee and blanket rent near the church for 10LE. I don’t know if they wash the blankets but it helps though for the cold sunrise waiting time. Get the organized tour from Dahab so you will get the transport and the guide for your trip. The toilets are terrible at the mountain so go to the toilet at the parking lot before the hiking. You may end your tour with a visit to St. Catherine Monastery (closed on Friday to Sunday). There will be better toilets there (not really the best) but get ready to be in a long line with your 1LE fee.
