"Bank of American Building" Atlanta Things to Do Tip by atufft
Atlanta Things to Do: 519 reviews and 852 photos
The Bank of America building is the tallest in Atlanta. It is distinctive for being the tallest building outside of Chicago and New York, and for being the tallest building in any state capitol. At 1,023 ft, it is currently the 24th tallest building in the world. It has, however, a modest 55 stories of office space, the remainder of the height made up of its projecting gold leaf tower and 90 foot tall spire. Built in 1992, it was originally called the Nations Bank building. Considering the new construction still in progress in downtown, one has a right to wonder how long the Bank of America building will reign supreme over Atlanta's skyline. It's worth noting that Atlanta's high rise skyline is not very tightly clustered because actually the Bank of America Building is across the freeway from downtown, and so is in the uptown part of the city.
