The Botanical Gardens in Poznan are part of the research and teaching division of the Adam Mickiewicz University. They were founded in 1925 and have gradually expanded in size over the years to their present size of 22 hectares. There are over 7,000 species of plants that are mainly shrubs and trees. These botanical gardens are different in as much that they are a public park and free of charge to enter. I visited the park on a public holiday and there was numerous stalls selling plants and there was various demonstrations taking place. There is a café and at the time of my visit a photographic exihibtion was on display in the same building.
