The Batthány square is situated on the Buda side of the Danube shore right in front of the Parliament building.
This places was named after Hungary`s first prime minister, Lajos Batthány, executed in 1849, after the fall of the Intipendence war agains Austria.
His statue, wich was inaugurated recently (april 2008) stands at the Szent Anna church.
You also find here another Market hall, built in the same style as the famous one in Pest, the Casanova house (the famous italian lovelace spent here some nights), some other nice baroque buildings and a metro station (line 2). And of course you can see a wonderful view of the Parliament building from here.
Directions: Buda side, opposite Parliament building.
