The tube is the name used for the underground network in London. It's easy to remember. The tube is the fastest way to get around because of the traffic on the streets. And it's easy to use also, the system of the tube network is very clever - each line has a name and a color - you identify the color and the name and then you look for signs to that line. Interesting fact to look for: bars you grab onto inside the trains are painted like the color of the line. Then the direction of the ride is as shown on the map, eastbound - to the east right, westbound - to the left, northbound - up the map, southbound - down the map.

So you have a small tube map ready - you can find one (one line shown in my second picture) in all underground stations - if finished just ask at the counter - and you can easily work your way from one station to another. When you're inside stations the maps on the walls and in trains are verey readable and easy to understand.

Stations are abundant (numerous) - not quite as numerous as in Paris - but with the tube you can go wherever you like without having to walk more than 15 minutes after you get to the surface.

Type: Subway/Metro
