"go and see Petra, and try to..." Jordan Favorite Tip by sphynxxs

Favorite thing: go and see Petra, and try to take a lot of time. Many visitors just go for a stroll to the 'Treasury' (known from the Indiana Jones´series...), maybe trotting along the nearest sites. But it´s possible to get a three-day-pass to the ancient sites. There are quite a lot of guesthouses and local guides in Wadi moussa where you can arrange trips to the more remote sites in the mountains.

Fondest memory: climbing a dune of almost red sand in the middle of nowhere in Wadi Rum. The sand was at least 60 degrees Celsius hot, so it wasn´t a pure pleasure. But being on top of this giant heap of burning sand and looking into three canyons surrounded by black rocks was really worth every drop of sweat...
sitting at the campfire, drinking a very sweet cardamon coffee while one of our bedouin guides sings along to the tune of his oud...
waking up at five o clock on the first morning in Amman with the call of the muezzin from the nearby mosque and realizing, I´ve really made it away from Europe again
