the fort king george historic site is an interesting place to visit when in darian. fort king george was built in 1721 to protect british georgia from indian and spanish attack. fort king george is georgia's oldest fort and was the southern most outpost of the british empire in america. on the site is the reconstructed fort, a replica scottish village, and the ruins of an early 19th century saw mill. for those interested in american history fort king george is a very worth while place to visit.

Directions: 3 miles east of I-95 exit 49. then to US17 south to darian.
