"Riding the TTC (subway)" Toronto Transportation Tip by stuckie

Toronto Transportation: 337 reviews and 346 photos

The subway system in Toronto is very basic and easy to use (for lack of lines). Toronto's payment system is a little antiquated. No oyster cards, scanned passes or electronic cards. We are still in the stone age with ID cards, tokens and money.

Note the service ends around 1:45AM, so if you're going out later than that, have money for a taxi.

Toronto has one of the more well used public services. It can get crowded during rush hour, but not like a Tokyo or Moscow. You will find off peak times on all lines to be a comfortable a pleasant way to get around. There is also air conditioning in cars.

Fares range, with a one way pass (no zones) good for unlimited usage throughout the subway system (provided you don't leave the station) at $2.75 CAD.
