Morton Park was named after the 22nd Vice President of the United States. Levi Parsons Morton owned beautiful property here in Newport along the Bellevue Avenue in "Fairlawn" which is currently owned by the Salve Regina University and housing the Pell Center of International Relations and Public Policy.

At the corners of Coggeshall and Morton Avenues (formerly Brenton Road) he left a piece of property to the City of Newport for use as a park which today bears his name, "Morton Park."

This is a beautiful park within walking distance to all the major attractions and the mansions. As you can see from the pictures, the park has some really beautiful trees with a spacious lawn area where you can picnic.

Address: Corners of Coggeshall and Morton Avenues
