Shopping almost always leads to long chats and a number of 'whiskey berbere' - a glass of sweet mint tea. Itīs a nice opportunity to get in touch with the local people, especially if you are in less tourist-spoilt areas. sometimes they even recommend small restaurants in some backyard or above a shop, where you can munch a big bowl of couscous far away from any tourist crowd

Directions: I liked the souk in Tunis very much - itīs huge and you can spend there several hours, hardly finding your way out. If you stay along the coast in Noth Tunisia, you might try the souk in Sousse. Itīs
