San Felice Circeo is my favorite summer place close to Rome. The beach is big, clean and the sea is amazing.
What's more there is a beautiful view of the mountain. This place's quite busy during summer holidays: July and August, so it's better to go there during May and June when the weather is nice and the beach is almost empty.
If you go during weekend there can be traffic, so leave early in the morning.
While in Circeo you can go for a dinner to Sperlonga, a captivating town right at the sea shore (about 30 min drive from San Felice Circeo.

Directions: From Rome take GRA, exit at Pontina, fallow the SS 148n the direction of Latina, later head for Sabaudia.
