The Neptunbrunnen or Neptune Fountain was created by Reinhold Begas and built between 1886 and 1891. The four female figures represent the four great rivers of Germany with Neptune holding court. It originally stood in front of the Berlin Castle and was moved to its present position in 1969. The fountain is 18m in diameter and 10m in height.
