We chose this hotel to stay in because of its iconic status, the roof top bar and its central location. Some people say the hotel is a bit tired, its only 4 star, but we really liked the kitchy feel to the hotel and all the rattan decor. I don't like staying in generic type accomodation where you feel like you could be in any city in the world. At the Rex you feel like your in a different country.

We booked at Rex Suite for our 4 day stay, it had a separate living area and two queen size beds in the room. Rooms were quite noisy from the streets below but again thats what happens in Ho Chi Minh, traffic, traffic and more traffic. The room had good views of the square outside the hotel, service was good, staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfasts were okay and I would probably stay here again.

The main picture is taken from our room of the square below.

Unique Qualities: Excellent location and great roof top bar. Just behind the Rex is Pasteur St which has some great shops so dont miss.

Address: Close to the Ben Thanh markets, People Committee House
Price Comparison: more expensive than average

Price: US$120-180
