A favourite place of mine to be in is in Telouet - surrounded by beautiful countryside in so many different colours and shapes - in a valley amongst valleys and mountains of the TizinTichka mid-Atlas range about 2 hours from Marrakech.

Its a berber area with numerous small villages around with many villagers coming into town from miles around on Thursdays for the souk day. Which also provides more sights and atmosphere - and photo opportunities. I love it!

Its quiet and remote - with great walking or driving that can be enjoyed to take up the diverse scenes and scenery to be found in the area - along to Tasgha, up to Anmiter and Tigzha even more remote up into the mountains where you can go a little further up to the Tamda Lakes.

People in the area are generally friendly or keep to their community interests though if you are driving into town or arriving off the bus there are a few businesses who will have touts who are really just advertising boards marketing but physically actively trying to catch business prospects when they can into an area that as it is still fairly remote could always do with the tourist cash. A warning with this is that if you have a particular place in mind to do business - such as come and stay at this accommodation that Im recommending there is a chance that there will be dishonest persons that will tell youi that this place is closed or not good to lure you off to theirs!

Unique Qualities: Jackies House is a house owned by a French woman which is managed by Hassan and his lovely wife and availalbe for rent when shes away. Its a lovely little selfcontained house partitioned from the half of the house that Hassan and his famly live in - so theyre right next door but you have as much privacy if you wish. If you want to have breakfast and meals provided than Hassan will happily look after you with the excellent cooking of his wife and all at a reasonable price.

The place is compounded off on a large piece of land up behind the town centre, near to where the weekly souks are held, overlooking a picturesque valley behind.

You have a small kitchen included if you wish to do your own cooking - you could bring what you need with from Marrakech - which is part of what I like about travelling independently in my own rental car - or there are small shops in town and a weekly souk on thursdays with fresh produce.

A new guest house has also been built so now there are more rooms available - a walking group was there when I last visited who were sitting down to a multi course lunch.

Price Comparison: less expensive than average
Directions: drive into the souk area and take the rocky road that runs up behind the town centre
Price: less than US$20
Theme: Pension/Guesthouse
