The Grunewald Forest is a popular place for Berliners at weekends. Covering an area of 32 square kilometres is has numerous footpaths for those walking dogs, joggers or cyclists. The forest has recovered from the end of world war 2 when two thirds of its trees were torn down for fire wood by desperate Berliners.
