Built in 1420 AD, Khan al-Jaqmaq is named after the Mamluke governor of Damascus, Saifeddine Jaqmaq al-Argunsawi. The Khan's beautiful portal is typically Syrian in style and is the oldest surviving Khan entrance in Damascus. Khan Jaqmaq is located within the covered section of Midhat Pasha Street, the eastern end of Via Recta, next to Khan al-Zait. The interior, however, is used as a warehouse and is not particularly interesting (see attached photos).
