Built in 1470 AD, the Minaret of al-Qali is considered the most densely decorated of Mamluke-period minarets in Damascus. The ornate square minaret is carved with muqarnas (stalactite) work and geometric motifs incorporating blue faience tiles. The minaret is topped with a round crown supported by more intricate muqarnas work. The mosque itself appears newer than the minaret. Al-Qali is located just south of Midhat Pasha Street (Via Recta).
