  Cotral bus station Ponte Mammolo
by leics

You can pay for an organised tour if you like.

Or you can just get to Ponte Mammolo Metro station on line B (blue), then go upstairs and out to the Cotral bus station (follow the bus signs).

You can buy the bus tickets at the office in the bar/cafe by the Metro exit. Tivoli isn't in Rome city, so you can't use your Rome travel pass (if you have one). Return fare was 4 euro when I last visited so will probably be 5-6 euro now. The bus takes about 30/40 minutes, depending on route and traffic.

There are several buses to choose from (try L1, L6 or L7) and frequent departures. Timetables on the link below: Click 'Orari' and then 'Roma' for the outward timetable, 'Tivoli' for the return.

Bus drivers are used to visitors so if you want to visit the Villa Adriana just ask them to tell you when to get off. If you want to visit the Villa d'Este and Villa Gregoriana you need to get off in Tivoli itself. It's pretty obvious once you've arrived there.

It's a lot cheaper to use public transport than go on an organised tour and you can spend as long as you like exploring Tivoli.

J, check your Cotral link? It doesn't appear to be working.

Cheers, Kate. It wasn't (page addresses change so often!) so I've replaced it and tinkered with the tip. :-)
