"Good place to leave the car" Comfort Suites Downtown San Antonio Tip by 807Wheaton

This Comfort Suites did not charge for parking which is a big plus when staying 3 nights downtown. It also has an indoor heated pool. They also have free wireless and a very nice business room where guests can use their computer and printer. The room we had was on the first floor right by the breakfast area and had a king size bed and a refrigerator with a wet bar sink outside the bathroom. The lighting in the room was good, but other than at the desk there were not any electrical outlets. The bathroom light and fan ran on the same switch so we couldn't leave the light on at night. The clock in the room did not light up. The pool doesn't open until 10 AM.
We were up early our first morning and down to breakfast by seven o'clock. There were only a few people there. They served Texas shaped waffles, good scrambled eggs, bacon, bagels and cream cheese, toast, muffins, juice, cold cereal, boiled eggs, and coffee. They also had a huge basket of oranges and apples.
Even though the pool is small, it was warm and clean. It was also very relaxing after a day of walking and sightseeing. Our room was cleaned up each afternoon when we returned.
The other two mornings breakfast was not quite as good. There was no fresh fruit and only the hard boiled eggs. Not sure why this happened but we enjoyed mounds of bacon and had cereal.
The area around the hotel is mostly parking lots of businesses. There is no view here.
We paid a Senior's rate of $280 total for 3 nights. For the small amount of time we spent here I thought it was good value for what we paid.
Unique Qualities: We walked down Laredo to Santa Rose, about 3 blocks and caught the bus at Durango for $1 each. We neglelcted to ask the bus driver what bus to use to get back to this area. We were dropped off one block from the Alamo. Later in the day, after enjoying the Riverwalk area and the Alamo, we walked to the Market Square and found that we were only about 20 minutes from the hotel. This worked well for us. The next day we visited the King William district in the car and then drove on to visit the other four missions in San Antonio.
