Drive the 8 mile narrow, unpaved Davidson Road, which leads to the Gold Bluffs beach, then follow the road to Fern Canyon, where Davidson Road dead ends, causing you to turn around and retrace your steps. Watch for elk in the prairies, in two different areas we saw a male with a group of cows. You may also choose to hike the two and a half Trillium Falls trail, and be sure to explore Fern Canyon, a must do area in my opinion. We stopped at the beach, which was described to us as a wild beach, where we enjoyed walking along the surf line. Although the sand has a dirty brownish gray look, it is a clean beach. There was a lot of drift wood lying on the beach, as well as broken shells. The view at this beach goes as far as the eye can see, completely unspoiled and void of structures.

Directions: Davidson road comes off of highway 101 north of the town of Orick, and south of the Prairie Creek Visitor Center area.
