  Bab al-Faradis

Known as Gate of Mercury during Roman times, this city gate was rebuilt in the 12th century AD by the Zengid ruler Nureddine. It was renamed Bab al-Faradis (Gate of the Gardens) referring to the nearby neighbourhood of al-Faradis. The medieval gate is now part of the covered covered souk and could easily be missed when walking through street.
