Last time we went to Lauderdale by the Sea it was turtle hatching season. There were lots of turtle nests along the beach. They all had the expected hatching date written and if you can not sleep at night, you can go and sit by the nest and expect to see baby turtles. We stayed up one night for 4 hours and we gave up waiting. It was 3am in the morning and we were tired.
There were lots of people on the beach waiting to see the baby turtles, so you will not be alone if you decide to go. Just prepare to stay up all night, baby turtles can show up any time between 11pm and 5am, so it all depends on your luck. You can not take pictures, it is too dark. You also have to watch your steps, so you do not step on the baby turtles.
