"Triomphe Indeed" Arc de Triomphe Tip by maestrousmc

Massive, robust, artful this symbolic landmark captures all the victories of the country in which you stand. Arguably much of Western Europe can attribute it's successes to one of France's greatest sons: Napoleon. Like the Eiffel Tower, tourists and travelers alike must include this masterpiece in their itinerary as no photograph or video can ever capture its grandeur. (I was definitely thrown aback by its proportions)

Built by Napoleon to commemorate - and consecrate - his victories it is a copy of Rome's Arch of Septimus Severus. The view atop the monument wonderfully illustrates the city's layout.

Needless to say, the lines during peak season and peak times are long. Be prepared.
