"Qutub Minar- the Tallest Brick Minaret" New Delhi Things to Do Tip by Preetibandooni

New Delhi Things to Do: 430 reviews and 879 photos

I and my pals decided to spend a weekend at the spectacular Qutub complex which is one of my most favorite picnic spots in Delhi. As a kid a visit to this complex used to be an important part of my ‘Must Visit’ list. Since then the huge Qutub Minar was always a site of my amazement but it is now that I can actually value the architectural brilliance of the monument. Inspired by the Minaret of Jam in Afghanistan this monument was built by Qutub- ud- din- Aibak and his successors. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is 72.5 meters high and has 399 steps. Unfortunately the tower now remains closed however the Qutub Complex has various sights for enjoying a perfect weekend with family and friends. As earlier I and my friends again tried to encircle the entire column of iron pillar with our arms. The common belief related to it is that it can fulfill one’s wishes if we are able to encircle it completely.
