Hallasan is a shield volcano on Jeju Island of South Korea, is an island of fantasy. In the middle of the island rises a high mountain, Mt. Halla. Hallasan is the highest mountain of South Korea. The area around the mountain is a designated national park, the Hallasan National Park. Hallasan is commonly considered to be one of the three main mountains of South Korea, with Jirisan and Seoraksan being the other two.

It was so named as it is high enough to touch the Milky Way. There are various species of plants of high academic value distributed in the area and as a treasure-house of various plants and animals. There are many scenic wonders in Mt. Halla such as Baengnokdam with snow in winter, majestic crown rock, waterfalls hidden in the valleys, and Yeongsil rock formations embraced the legend of the 500 Generals.
