LANGUAGE - The native language is Icelandic, which is very complex and relatively unchanged since the 13th century. Icelanders are highly educated and most speak fluent English. French, German, Spanish, Italian and other Scandanavian languages are also taught and spoken but not as widely as English.

CURRENCY - is the krona (IKR). Coins come in 1,5,10,50 & 100 denominations, notes in 500, 1000, 2000 & 5000 denominations. A currency exchange/bank is available at the international airport and is open even for early arrivals at 6:30, 7:00 a.m.. ATM's are available throughout the country.

TIPPING - Not required at restaurants as automatic service charges are added to the bill.
