Bedouin Market (open air market) every Thursday.
Although it has become more touristy in the last 30 years, it still gives a taste of what it was. You will be able to experience some of the most amazing combinations of smells here also, the spices in open bags or even laid out on the ground on a tarp of plastic, the foods being hawked, the people themselves, the animals being sold for breeding or the evening meal all combine to make it an interesting meal for the nose. You will see crowds of people around someone selling something and loud bargaining. If you are up to it, get into the bargaining yourself. When they offer you a price on something you want, offer to pay only 25% of that. When they offer you at 80%, reply 40%. You can make this long or short depending on the person who you are doing the bargaining with. Today the patience to bargain is in shorter supply than ever.
Directions: The market is located near the central bus staion in Beer-Sheva (southern Israel). It is about a 5-10 minute walk. Ask for directions in the bus station or anybody you meet on the street, everyone kno
