"Alb river in Daxlanden" Top 5 Page for this destination Karlsruhe Off The Beaten Path Tip by Kathrin_E
Karlsruhe Off The Beaten Path: 75 reviews and 191 photos
The small river Alb is accompanied by parks, footpaths and bike trails on both banks. The best known part is the Günther-Klotz-Anlage further upstream, but the prettiest and most idyllic part is to be found in Karlsruhe's South Western suburb of Daxlanden between Entenfang and Rheinhafen.
Joggers: Parts of the paths are unsealed and good for running.
Bikers: The paths along the Alb are part of the Alb-Radwanderweg which leads up the river to the Northern Black Forest and downstream toward the trail network in the floodlands along the Rhine.
Families: several playgrounds, meadows, the banks of the shallow river will easily entertain the littlies.
Bird lovers: I've observed kingfishers (yes, right in town!) several times along the Mühlgraben near Appenmühle.
