The Helsinki Cathedral is a bright white Lutheran church with a tall green dome in the heart of Helsinki. It was designed by the German architect, Karl Ludvig Engel, in the neoclassical style. It was built between the years 1830 and 1852.

I was in awe when I saw it from my ferry boat as we approached Helsinki -- and it is even more impressive up close. Without a doubt, it is one of the most beautiful buildings that I have had the pleasure of seeing in person.
