All Polish Soups: "Splendid Stirs!" Krakow Restaurant Tip by kanjon

Krakow Restaurants: 555 reviews and 747 photos

When in Poland you should try the Polish soups. They are always delicious! I don´t give a special restaurant-tip here as you can go to any basic restaurant or milk-bar and have a meal worthy of Guide Michelin. So far I have always had extremely tasty soups everywhere in Poland. Here is a selection of some Polish soups to try out (some of them are traditionally cooked also in other, neighbouring countries):

Rosól z kury, clear chicken soup with fine noodles
Zurek (Zur), made from soured rye flour and meat, sometimes served with boiled potatoes.
Barszcz grzybowy, a wild mushroom soup with beef-broth and parsley
Zupa Ogorkowa, a sour cucumber soup with potatoes and pickled dill.
Kapusniak, with sauerkraut, smoked pork and cream, often served with potato dumplings
Barszcz z uszkami, beet soup served with small ravioli

Price Comparison: least expensive
Directions: Served at most places. Try smaller, basic, local milk-bars or restaurants.
Price: less than US$10
Rating: 5
Theme: Local
