Favorite thing: The community of Rattray was settled as far back as 400BC and has a long and turbulant history. Rattray was granted the status of Royal Burgh in 1563 by Mary Queen of Scots to try and dispel the arguments over land usage by the ruling Earls. In the eighteenth century a great storm erupted here obliterating the village with shifting sands from the nearby dunes. Today there is only surviving one cottage before you take the road to the sea and two farms. The storms of life can destroy but do remain forever.
