County Clare Shopping: 4 reviews and 3 photos

Across the road from Bunratty Castle is the Blarney Woolen Mills, which features very nice woolen and linen products, as well as local crystal, pottery, fragrances, clothing, etc.

They feature Aran sweaters as well as some more contemporary designs from brands like Fisherman. You will also find a great assortment of wool socks, hats, jackets, scarves, linens, etc.

They also carry various lines of pottery from well known makers such as Stephen Pearce. and is more geared towards crafts for the home. Upstairs is a furniture store.

There is also a cafe on the second floor.

Last time I was there, the Woolen Mills deducted the VAT right then and there, so there was no extra paperwork, except dropping the receipt in a box at the airport. I don't know if they still do it this way.

There are sales going on invariably throughout the year.

What to buy: I'm a big fan of Fisherman's line of woolen products. They have some cool contemporary designs for sweaters hats, scarves and more.

This is also a good place to get pottery. When I was there last, they carried designs by several Irish potters. Stephen Pearce is my favorite.

The Mills also carries an extensive assortment of Galway Crystal, as well as the old standard of Waterford.

What to pay: Depends what you buy...look for sales and remember the VAT is deducted.
