Adega de S. Rogue: "Great little place in Chiado" Restaurante Adega de São. Roque Tip by WardrobeMK
Restaurante Adega de São. Roque, Lisbon: 1 reviews and 3 photos
We found this great little place on one of our walkabouts.
Rua da Misericordia has a big church at the top of the hill called Sao Rogue. The restaurant is on the right hand side of the street going up the hill, just before a square and the church. It has small green metal doors and it looks like you would walk into someone's house. There is a menu and some photos of fish outside on the wall.
The service is efficient and friendly, they speak good English as well. The food is "local" i.e nothing fancy but very tasty and the restaurant is a locals favourite which is always a good sign. We were the only tourists in there.
The locals tend to lunch between 12 and 2 so any time after that it's not too busy. We went in about 2.30 and there were 4 groups of diners apart from us.
Favorite Dish: I had a nice steak and fries for 7 Euros. The wine comes in a traditional clay jug which is a nice touch. My friend had seafood salad for 6 Euros. You can choose from a great selection of fresh fish and also live lobsters which are in a tank as you enter the restaurant. Animal lovers beware, I started feeling sorry dor them!
The only strange thing is their chairs are just seats, they have no backs to them so if you like to lean like I do, sit next to a wall.
Address: Rua da Misericordia 120, 1200-273 Lisbon
Price Comparison: about average
Directions: Up Rua Da Misericordia, the restaurant is in the last block on the right hand side just before the square of Largo Trindade Coelho and the Sao Rogue church. Small green metal doors and a couple of steps down.
