Girona Things to Do: 207 reviews and 450 photos
The first museum I visited in Girona was the City History Museum so there I paid full admission. It was 2 Euro (February 2008). The museum is housed in a 18th century building constructed for the Capuchin Friars. In the building there are also some remains of the Roman wall and a 14th century home.
By the reception is the friars cementery/desiccator. Here the dead friars were placed sitting on the benches in the niches until their bodies were dried out. They were removed as mummies after two years and were then dressed in religious clothes to be contemplated.
The temporary exhibitions explains life before Girona, the founding of the city (Girona was founded by the Romans almost 2000 years ago), Medieval Girona and Modern Girona.
The museum is open between 10 - 14 and 17 - 19 on Tuesday - Saturday. On Sundays and bank holidays the museum is open between 10 -14.
