Doris Butchers: "Doris Butchers for the MEAT" Tel Aviv-Yafo Restaurant Tip by Martin_S.

Doris is only open from noon to 1 A.M., so you will not find breakfast here. But what you will find is a restaurant based on a butcher shop, you can actually purchase cuts of meat here as well as "point and ask", yes just point at a cut of meat and ask for it to be prepared for you.
We had a VT meet here, with Hrvoja (Frona), Gil (Bregman), with friends Steve, Anna and Andie also attending along with us. Must admit that the service did not live up to the food, and this place is very expensive. The decor is very stark and the tables and chairs are not comfortable, almost utilitarian. Several items we ordered were not available, so we had to wait an additional time till we could get everything together. As we were finishing up the main course (yes before desert or coffee), we were informed that we had to vacate our places......when I asked to see the manager it was explained to me that evening diners had only 2 hours to sit. (don't forget we had been delayed in our dinner also several times because of items that were not available...but that was not the point, they did not inform us of this, so after talking to the manager we were "allowed" to stay longer. We finished up the main course and then refused desert or coffee.
The owner appeared when we were leaving and I spoke with him and he offered us another meal for the same amount. We subsequently received a letter from him with an apology and invitation for that second meal. We have not as yet gone back...don't know if we will.
Favorite Dish: I had the 750 gram prime rib and it was excellent. A pity that the evening was ruined by the poor service and then later the arguments that arose when being asked to leave in the middle of our meal.
They don't have an internet site in English, but you can see if you open, press on the right hand side that is the Tel-Aviv restaurant. The left hand side is the Rosh Pina restaurant.
PS: We also have eaten at the Rosh Pina restaurant and it is pure enjoyment there, the service was fine and the tables and chairs simple, but comfortable. I won't even mention the food which was of very good quality and cheaper than in Tel-Aviv.
Address: Rehov Yigal Alon 65, Tel Aviv.
Price Comparison: more expensive than average
