Topkapi Palace was once the great palace of the Ottoman sultans from the 15th-19th centuries. It is a huge complex of buildings and deserves at least half a day, preferably a day exploring. There are four courtyards: the first a wooded garden; the second consists of the palace kitchen, entrance to the Harem, Tower of Justice; the third courtyard the audience hall of the sultan, library of Sultan Ahmet III, jewels of the Imperial Treasury and the fourth courtyard the Konyali Restaurant, circumcision room and other pavilions overlooking the Golden Horn and Bosphorus. Recommend visiting the harem with its dazzling mosaic rooms and the treasury which houses displays of precious objects. You won?t believe they are real!! There are separate audio video guides provided for the palace and the harem. Entry to palace 10 YTL 10YTL to Harem and another 5YTL for an audio guide. Make sure you grab a map of the Palace when you buy your ticket otherwise you will get lost! Please note separate tip on the restaurant. Open everyday except Monday and Thursday.
