Favorite thing: Prague is one of the centres of the Art Nouveau style, here called 'Prague Secession'. It came up around 1898, leading architects and artists were Jan Kotera, Osvald Polivka and, internationally most renowned Alfons Mucha.
Outstanding examples for that architectural style are Obecni Dum and Hlavni nadrazi. But you just need to walk around the streets and you'll see plenty of very beautiful townhouses in that style. Like on the main picture of this tip. Hlavni Nadrazi is undergoing reconstruction right now and I hope they restore the beautiful Art Nouveau elements. At the moment the rooms in that style lack any function and travellers rarely see them. Go upstairs from the modern arrival hall, see the Kavarna (Cafe).
