Favorite thing: You find the Szervita church on the homonimuos square, near the Váci street and the Vörösmarty square in the heard of the city centre. It`s worthwile taking a look because this is one of the highlights of the baroque architecture. Even if the church and the whole square (wich will be modified in a couple of years in a very progressive style wich I think is not a good idea) aren`t in the best shape. Altough the internals of the church are in perfect shape the faade needs an urgent renovation.
The name of the szervita order comes from "Servi Mariae"-Mary`s servants and they came to Budapest in 1697.
This church was built between 1725 and 1732. In 1871 the facades were transformed in eclectic style by József Diescher.
