YIUs Cafe Restaurant Japonais: "yet another wannabee Japanese Restaurant" Paris Restaurant Tip by cochinjew

After having been fortunate to eat so well in Japan during the course of nine visits to that country in 2005, i am always disappointed by the mushrooming of the so called Japanese restaurants around the world. Can a Thai cook Japanese food? probably he can, if he like many other chef, goes to school and learns to cook.
this particular restaurant recently opened in La Defense, reminds me of some rich Thai businessman's idea (remember Taksin?) of putting some money away.
The people who prepare food are Thai (could be Lao), the waitresses have been in this country for a while in that they speak very good french, they look more like Vietnamienne. It is located in the busy lunch time area of La Defense with all its high power business offices so many of the people are on expense account lunches and the prices here are much higher than the other parts of Paris.
Favorite Dish: I have eaten here now three times and i can say I am not pleased with the result. I feel insulted that they pass this on as Japanese food, how can the french palate tolerate it and it is expensive to boot?
the yakitori had tuna and salmon which was not fresh and was difficult to bite into.
the sashimi was acceptable but then again, what does it take to prepare sashimi. all the prepared japanese food were lower in quality.
