"A colonial dream" Hostal Mision Santa Barbara Tip by colombiantraveler
Hostal Mision Santa Barbara, Barichara: 11 reviews and 3 photos
This is a comfortable hotel constructed in the nineteenth century with the capacity to house eighty people with all the facilities required to spend your holidays or weekends. There are two areas in the hotel: The antique one, and the new one. So, if you prefer to feel that you are in a colonial built with high roof, original wood and thick walls don’t hesitate and ask to stay in the old area. On the contrary, if you are the kind of traveler that enjoy being in a modern architecture then pick the new side.
I would describe my stay in Hostal Misión Santa Bárbara like a quiet and peaceful experience where the breakfast is the most appealing moment because of the smell and taste of the “arepa santandereana”, a tasty and crunchy mixture of corn flour and pork. It’s really delicious and so much better if it is served with local cheese and hot chocolate.
Like the rest of the hotels in Barichara, this one is made to spend the nights, giving you a suitable place to rest and sleep well after a day of adventures in the interesting surrounding areas. There is, as well, a small swimming pool for those who prefer stay during the day.
