Before or after a trip to Newcastle, Murlough Bay is a must. Starting at the gates of the conservation area there are multiple paths to take. You can wind through the sand dunes or walk along the beautiful long beach. It can get quite windy so make sure you bring something windproof! There are tons of rabbits running around too....

Murlough National Nature Reserve is situated on the County Down coast below the Mourne Mountains. It is a fragile 5,000 year old sand dune system with heathland and woodland surrounded by estuary and sea.

Address: Murlough National Nature Reserve
Directions: Off the Torr Road from Ballyvoy, 7 miles from Ballycastle, 11ml from Cushendun. Drive time: Belfast 1.25 hrs.
