On the city's east side there is a pleasant neighborhood of historic interest - Astor. This is primarily a residential neighborhood with a hospital complex that has grown in the middle of it, with several smaller parks. You will see a lot of fine old homes, primarily from the late 1800s and early 1900s. St. James Park and Baird Square are public parks, along with Astor Park, which really lies a little outside the district.

The neighborhood was recognized in the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Directions: The area is roughly defined by the Fox river to the west, Mason St. to the north, Webster to the east and Grignon to the south.
