Savannah is known for her squares and parks. When the city was initially laid out in the 1700's, it was planned that the streets would run in square blocks with green space centering in each quadrant. It's easy to find your way, but a good idea to use a map so you don't get the squares and parks confused. The neighborhoods seem to operate around the square...so that you'll have a few cafes or galleries...a tea room or an historic house... all identifying with the square as if it were the name of the neighborhood. Am I clear on that?
There were a few squares I sought out for specific reasons... I'll offer more on that later.
