"I Lov it (read it backwards)" Tivoli Garden Tip by sourbugger
Tivoli Garden, Copenhagen: 134 reviews and 247 photos
The Tivioli amusement park is often referred to as the oldest, still operating, amusement prk in the world. Others suggest that another Danish amusement park beats it. Either way, the Tivoli is somewhat unusual in the world of Theme parks.
Firstly, it is situated bang in the middle of town (although it was outside the city when it first opened) opposite the central station. As such it has no car parking facilities but is well served by public transport.
Secondly, it has a rather unusual business plan. Many of the people at play in the park are locals who buy a 'season pass'. They may buy a spass just to enter the grounds or one that includes the rides.
Thirdly, you pay seperately for entrance to the park and for the rides. Rides can be paid for with tokens or a 'ride everything' wristband.
Fourthly, the park includes a couple of theatres and many restaurants. Most theme parks serve up fast-food rubbish in abundance, but the Tivoli enjoys modern trendy places and upmarket joints.
Finally, the park contains a number of rather quaint old-fashioned rides that would have been ripped out years ago in other parks.
The rides themselves will be dealt in other tips, but just for the moment look at the name of the place - I certainly concur. Backwards.
