The Wawel Cathedral, Poland's national sanctuary with 1000-year-old history, was the coronation site of Polish monarchs. It is arguably the most interesting place in the whole country.
The center of the Wawel Cathedral's nave is occupied by the 1630 mausoleum of St. Stanislav, Poland's saint patron, the 11th-century Krakow bishop murdered by King Boleslav II. It is also a place of royal thombs. There are sarcophagus of: King Vladislav II Jagiello, King Vladislav III Warnenczyk, King Vladislav I the Short, King Casimir III Great, Queen-Saint Jadwiga, as well as other important people, like Mickiewicz ansd Slowacki (Polish writers).
It is not allowed to make pictures inside the Cathedral. The entry fee is 10 PLN (student - 5 PLN).
